Spring is Almost Here!
The world feels a little chaotic right now, so lately I’ve been trying to focus on the small things directly in front of me. Last week I somehow ended up deep in Blizzard-Tok, then Iran-Tok, and things got depressing very quickly.
But here’s one good thing: daylight savings happened. Sure, we lost an hour of sleep, but the time change means we’re almost there. Once we push through this Third Winter, the flowers will start blooming, the weather will turn, and the city will finally wake up again. And honestly, I can’t wait.
I’m ready for my first picnic in Central Park. I’m ready to walk around the East Village in outfits that actually make sense for the weather. I’m ready to leave work and still see sunlight outside.
New York in the spring and summer just hits differently and I’m pretty sure many of you feel the same way.
So hang in there. The Pollening is almost here. (Unless you have pollen allergies, in which case, wishing you strength and an unlimited supply of pocket tissues.)
While we all attempt to warm up for the bajillionth time this year, here are a few things to look forward to once the city fully wakes up again.
Trips to the Hamptons
Summer in New York often means weekend escapes to the Hamptons. The towns are full of charming shops, beach days, and events popping up everywhere.
One thing already on the radar is Palm Tree Festival, with Kygo, The Chainsmokers, and plenty of other DJs performing. If music festivals aren’t your thing, there’s also Dan’s Taste, a culinary showcase where top chefs come together for a night of incredible food.
And if neither of those are your vibe, there are always pop-ups happening. Last year, NRTHRN Strong hosted a Hamptons pop-up to test the New York market and shortly after, they opened their Midtown location. You never know what you’ll discover in the Hamptons!
Summer Fridays
Summer Fridays are one of New York’s greatest traditions. Leaving work early and still having hours of sunlight ahead of you feels like a mini vacation.
And honestly, even on regular weekdays, late sunsets make the whole city feel different. You leave work, meet a friend for a drink, go for a walk and suddenly the day doesn’t feel as rushed anymore.
Patio Dining Season
New York is known for many things, but the food scene is definitely one of them.
After months of bundled-up indoor dining, patio season finally returns. Sitting outside with the sun shining down, a spritz in hand, good food on the table, and some people-watching activity. That might be peak New York energy. And trust me, there are always interesting characters to observe.
The best part about spring in New York is that anything can happen. Picnics. Walks. Rooftops. Random dinners that turn into long nights out.
It’s the season where the city feels alive again and now’s the perfect time to start imagining your New York moment. So hang in there for this final chilly push. The good weather is almost here. To celebrate this, we are giving out free samples of our newly updated Chicken Al Pastor Bowl. Email me to get some teaser of what it’s about!
See you in the next newsletter.
Best,
Isabel
